BEE & WASP TYPES

Bees and Wasps We Treat from Ventura to Riverside

Not all bee and wasp problems look the same. Stanley identifies the species and treats the activity commonly found around homes and businesses throughout Southern California.

Yellow Jackets

Aggressive and quick to defend their nests, yellow jackets build colonies underground and in wall voids and can sting multiple times when disturbed.

Paper Wasps

Known for open, umbrella-shaped nests under eaves, porch ceilings, and window frames, paper wasps get territorial and sting when people come too close.

Honey Bees

Swarms and colonies settle into wall voids, attics, and tree hollows, where honeycomb left behind can stain walls and attract other pests. We remove colonies intact whenever possible.

mud-dauber-wasp-control
Mud Daubers

Solitary and rarely aggressive, mud daubers build small mud nests on exterior walls, eaves, and soffits. The nests stain stucco and siding, and abandoned ones often invite more aggressive wasps to move in.

Where Bees and Wasps Show Up and What Homeowners Notice

Bees and wasps settle in where they find shelter, gaps, or flowering plants. Stanley identifies where they nest, what attracts them, and why they keep coming back.

Eaves & Roof Lines

Wasps and bees build nests under roof overhangs and soffits, where they get shelter from the weather and distance from foot traffic. Watch for steady fly-in, fly-out activity around one spot along the roofline.

Tree Branches & Shrubs

Hanging nests are commonly found attached to tree limbs, dense shrubs, and garden structures where foliage provides partial concealment and proximity to foraging areas.

Wall Voids & Attic Spaces

Some species enter through small gaps and establish nests inside wall cavities and attic spaces, making activity harder to spot until the colony grows significantly.

Ground & Landscaping

Yellow jackets and some bee species nest underground in lawns, garden beds, and soil near landscaping, posing a risk to people walking or working in those areas.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions About Bees and Wasps

Not if we can help it. Whenever a colony can be safely removed intact, we hand it off to a beekeeper. Some feral colonies can’t be relocated because beekeepers won’t accept bees that may carry Africanized genetics or disease, and in those cases we treat the nest to protect your family and property. Either way, we explain the plan before any work begins.

Getting rid of bees and wasps safely requires identifying the species, locating the nest, and using the proper removal methods. Bees and wasps commonly build nests around roofs, eaves, trees, attics, garages, and outdoor structures where they can remain protected.

Because stinging insects can become aggressive when disturbed, professional bee and wasp control services help ensure the nest is treated or removed safely while reducing the risk of future activity.

Attempting to remove a bee or wasp nest without proper equipment can be dangerous, especially if the insects become aggressive. DIY treatments may not fully eliminate the nest and can increase the risk of stings.

Professional pest control technicians are trained to safely identify, treat, and remove nests while helping prevent future infestations.

Preventing bees and wasps involves reducing attractants around your property and sealing possible nesting areas. Keeping outdoor food covered, removing standing water, sealing gaps, and regularly inspecting rooflines and outdoor structures can help discourage nesting.

Professional preventative treatments and inspections can also help reduce the likelihood of future bee and wasp activity around your home or business.
